Skulpturenpark Berlin_Zentrum is a book published in 2010 which documents all the projects at the Park including my time and research at Simon Faithfull’s Mobile Research Centre in Berlin.

In August 2009, a strange apparition lands in the wilderness of Skulpturenpark. Faithfull’s Mobile Research Station No.] is a curious hybrid- half hi-tech Antarctic Research Station/half rusty-broken-dumpster. Using a standard trash container as its basis, the station nevertheless forms a luxurious designer-pod providing for an eccentric set of researchers. Rather than exploring the frozen wastes of Antarctica or the moons of Saturn. the limited artists/researchers undertake their investigation in the surrounding no man’s land and urban zones of uncertain that still lie at the center of Berlin.

Several Interruptions

To celebrate 15 years of ground breaking research in electronic media, the Slade Centre for Electronic Media in Fine Art (SCEMFA) will hold a 14 week exhibition, showing new works from eight internationally acclaimed artists: who use emerging practices to explore electronic and digital media, as both a source and material.

An exhibition that revolves every fortnight between each artist, acting as a showcase for the best of contemporary art in the UK, and highlighting the Slade’s pivotal role in the history, development and current research in the many varied forms of electronic media.

SCEMFA is a research group at the Slade School of Fine Art. SCEMFA opened in 1995 and for the past 15 years has provided the opportunity for leading artists to focus on research into Electronic Media and Fine Art, contributing to debate on a national and international level for events, exhibitions, broadcasts, collaborations and online.

Field Broadcast 8 – 16 May 2010

Thirty-three artists will send live broadcasts from fields direct to your desktop. All works, whether video, animation, performance, sculpture or live data will be created in the field with no editing or post-production. Each broadcast will be viewed by a dispersed international audience, at office desks, in cafes, on trains and at kitchen tables.

To receive the field broadcasts go to www.fieldbroadcast.org and follow the instructions. Once you have installed the viewer application each broadcast will arrive directly to your desktop, through your internet connection, opening in a pop-up window.

Field Broadcast will be live for 24 hours a day from May 8th to May 16th. Times of individual broadcasts will not be published in advance. All broadcasts are live and will not be repeated.
