About Time, Redcar Contemporary Art Gallery

The 2025 Redcar Summer Exhibition, staged at Redcar Contemporary Art Gallery (RCCAG) from 12 July to 24 August, is a thought-provoking exhibition based on the theme “About Time.” This third Summer Exhibition includes over 60 works from selected and invited artists working in all disciplines to interpret temporal themes demonstrating time’s layered presence in art and life.

Time is both a universal constant and a deeply personal experience—measured, felt, and imagined. As an exhibition theme, ‘About Time’ invites reflection on memory, change, urgency, and cycles, offering artists a framework to explore everything from geological deep time to fleeting moments, future possibilities, and the rhythms of daily life and the environment.

Led by guest curator Prof. Susan Collins, former Director of the Slade School of Fine Art, the show emphasises inclusivity and creativity across mediums such as painting, video, installation, performance and new media.

As well as the main Summer Exhibition event at the RCCAG, the wider programme includes a sound installation at the House of Foliage in Redcar, a Children’s exhibition, an outcome of the RCCAG working with three local schools, and several professional development events designed to support artists in building networks, enhancing their creative practice, gaining curatorial insight, and developing skills in exhibiting, collaboration, and public engagement.

Entry to the exhibition is free.
